Sickedy doo-dah,
Sickedy-ay
My oh my, I wish that I had sick days.....

At least my immune system decided to surprise me this year. Instead of starting out with the same old boring bronchitis, it decided to go for flu-like disease, instead. Somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00pm yesterday, the sick bus ran me over, backed over me, and then ran me down a second time. Zero to headache, chills, cold sweats, vertigo, nausea, shakes, and weakness in less than half an hour.

Luckily, I managed to make it through my last handful of appointments without actually throwing up on any of my patients, and (against the wishes of the incredibly nice receptionist) drove myself home without major incident, where my amazing and wonderful husband promptly tucked me into a sofa-bed, covered me with enough blankets to make me stop shaking, and put the Muppet Show on infinite repeat in front of me until I lost consciousness.

I'm actually feeling vaguely human this morning, much to my surprise. I'm not brave enough to try eating anything more challenging than toast, and I still feel like I have shaky-newborn-kitten legs, but I can stand and walk around without too much difficulty. With any luck, either this was just an extremely odd migraine or I've managed to shake off the bug without too much effort. At least, I hope that's the case, and not just becuase I've got another appointment to try to donate blood tomorrow - if the universe denies me in this again, I will be *most* upset.

I'm going to try to go to work today; the downside of relief work is that I don't exactly get to call in sick, especially when I'm well enough to walk and talk. However, I am at a clinic today where I'm allowed (and vaguely encouraged) to leave early if there are no appointments, and I will be selfish enough to hope for that to happen today.....

Oh no! Sounds like we might not see you tonight after all -- but take care of yourself if that's needed.

But I play one on the net! :)

Sounds a whole lot like a Norwalk (aka Cruise Ship) virus, to me.

Not fun, not fun at all. It's been going around here too.
