Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety-jig

Home from Pennsic. Finally. Not unpacked yet, but alive and in one piece.
Pennsic was wet. And rainy. And muggy, and muddy, and did I mention wet? Soggy, even. I think my toes may never be fully clean again.
That said, it was also much fun. Two of my four classes were overwhelmed by torrential rain, but at least I was prepared for the classes. And the classes that weren't rained out went rather well. I managed to get my dance booklets and CDs put together in time, and sold a decent number (much to my surprise). I went to a fascinating class on salads in 16th Century Italian cooking, and I have a new translation project that's occupying my mind. I learned the beginner-basics of fingerloop braiding, and did more shopping than I probably should have, and had some pleasant social time with my camp-mates, and saw an amazing commedia dell'arte show.
I got to visit briefly with the friends I met in the Barony of Blackstone Mountain, and was again invited to their big late-spring camping event. I've also been invited to teach at a dance event in Tennessee, which is a bit surprising - I still tend to think of myself as a pinch-hitter and sidekick when it comes to teaching dance. And, the biggest surprise to me (thanks to my campmates' consummate skill at dissembling), at East Kingdom Court their majesties inducted me into the Order of the Maunche, our kingdom's order of achievement in arts and sciences. I'm still kind of overwhelmed and excited - it's not at all something I was expecting at this point.
But I am home now, and dry, and enjoying being back with my cats and my sofa and electric lights and climate control. And, alas, no hope of catching up on LJ. So, did I miss anything particularly significant or exciting?

Date: 2007-08-14 02:27 pm (UTC)I need to get off my backside and find someone to write that labanotation for me. I don't have to be at work for another hour or so, maybe I'll do it now....

Date: 2007-08-14 02:33 pm (UTC)I'm Clara; I'm a fairly small and slender woman with red hair in braids - I was dancing with Henry, the second couple in the set. :)
The book and CD are pretty small and simple - it's four dances from Il Ballarino, with step reconstructions, and music for the dances. I can mail you a copy, or.... looking at your friends list, we've got some impressive overlap. I'll be seeing at least a few of my MD/DC friends in a few weeks, and I can pass them on by Mongol Post at that time.
Wow, it really is a small world! And I'm glad to find you - I had wanted to thank you for your teaching last week, and I never got the chance....

Date: 2007-08-14 06:16 pm (UTC)O Henry, our favorite dancer. It is very hard to be charitable towards him. I think he annoys me less than he annoys others. I also didn't have to listen to him all night.
Yes, that was me teaching. I was really honored to be asked to teach Nonesuch. It was my first time of teaching that dance, so it was a bit bumpy but I think overall it went well.
I am still pretty new to many of the Italian dances. I know the standard 15th century ones (Amorousa, Anello, etc.) but I don't know a lot of 16th century ones (I know the chorus for Gracca and Bizzarria but not the rest).
Delivery via either Mogol Post or by mail is fine. Let's coordinate as some of my friends I see very rarely.
Thank you and please let me know how much I owe you for the book and cd.
