Happiness

For all the frustration and upset leading up to this, it has been a darn good holiday.

Work on Christmas Eve started out crazy but ended up smooth and calm, and dinner that evening was marvelous - it's incredibly fun to dress up fancy and eat swanky food from pretty china with good friends. Gifts were exchanged, conversation was made, and all was good.

Yesterday was much less fancy, but equally fun. Opening gifts in pajamas, making breakfast with my husband, going to the movies, and then having another friend over for Chinese food and chatting. The whole day is wrapped in an overall aura of goodness, but I do have a few specific impressions:

-I am now the proud owner of a shiny, pretty Ipod, and while I feel a little bit of conformist-guilt, I'm still having a blast filling it up with awesome music and looking for audiobooks to put on it.

-My husband is amazing and cool (see above).

-'I Am Legend' is.... not what I expected. Without spoilers, I can just say that it reminds me of those old Reeses Peanut Butter Cups commercials - I can imagine two people carrying scripts walking down the hall in some motion picture office, and colliding, followed by 'Hey, you got your schmoop in my zombies!' 'Hey, you got your zombies in my schmoop!' Definitely a three-Kleenex box film, possibly worse for anyone in a medical profession. I loved it.

-Jones Soda's dessert special sodas are just plain weird. Especially the Lemon Meringue Pie flavor. I had expected it to taste like lemon, and meringue, but the fact that I can specifically taste graham cracker crust too is simultaneously impressive and disturbing.

-The gift gnome continues to leave anonymous presents on my porch, and they continue to be adorable. Thank you, gift gnome, wherever and whoever you are!

-I am really an incredibly lucky person, blessed with friends, opportunities, and a heck of a nice life.

I've given myself the rest of the week off, to work on house maintenance, larp writing, taking care of myself, and visiting family (and possibly an old friend I haven't seen in far too long). Off to eat breakfast and run errands right now, though. Happy holidays to everyone, and I hope y'all are having as good a season as I am so far....

May I suggest podiobooks.com all of their books are free. They ask that if you liked a book you make a small donation - over 50% of which goes to the author. They have a good selection. I would Reccomend How To Succeed in Evil Volume One by Patrick McLean. This is an awesome little book, I enjoy each new chapter thoroughly when it comes out. Very funny and reminds me of my super hero larps quite a bit.

iTunes also has tons and tons of free podcasts to download - i have more of them than music.

Well, having seen a Will Smith movie that called for tissues, we can look forward to his next work: Hancock - Washed-up superhero Will Smith hires PR exec Jason Bateman to improve his image, then ends up falling for his wife Charlize Theron.

Well, yeah, but with So many spoilers out on the net one hardly needs a trailer anymore...
