Little things

I don't know whether it's just that big things don't happen to me that often, or that I'm simply easily impressed, but somehow the little things that people do for me, that they probably don't think about much, amaze me and do more to brighten my day than a huge parade or a shower of diamonds ever would.
Last weekend, when my dear sweet ex-roomie picked me up at the airport, he had a Diet Coke waiting for me in the car. I could have swooned.
Today I finally managed to catch up with one of my coworkers - he came back from a continuing-education conference about the same day I left for MarCon. He had been teasing me about how much I gushed about one of my favorite professors, who was one of the main lecturers at the conference. And when I got to work this morning, I found a copy of the newest edition of Dr. O's orthopedics textbook on my desk, signed to me.
One of my clients called me Dr. Becky today. I *love* that. :)
Another one evaluated me for her dog club; I found this out when I got a letter of commendation from them for getting a perfect score on the evaluation.
And I got to have so much fun with exotics today - I saw an iguana, and a tortoise, and three bunnies, and a sun conure and a whole handful of cockatiels... dogs and cats are wonderful, but there's something exciting and different about new and non-traditional species that makes my day more fun.
I'm not the only one enjoying myself, either. The Prima Donna Bitch Queen has apparently found herself a new SO, and has been actually observed whistling and smiling as she walks around the office. This makes life much nicer for everyone.
Maybe it's just that spring is finally here, and everything looks and feels better. I'm sure the little annoyances are still here, but they're just not sticking nearly as much as the little joys. Whatever. I'm not going to question this too deeply, I'll just enjoy it.
