My LARP is, for all practical purposes, done.

Character sheets have been continuity-checked, mailed to players, and printed. Contingencies and items and abilities and badges have been printed. Bluesheets have been continuity-checked, and will be printed today. Props are all but one bought or made and sitting in a big box. We're almost completely ready.

And I have today off from work. I could, theoretically, spend the day actually tidying the house. Washing dishes, doing laundry, sweeping and vacuuming, and all that jazz. Or I could go to the bank and the library. Maybe do the grocery shopping that we need if we ever want to stop eating takeout. I could finish entering books into LibraryThing, pay bills, start working on learning the beadwork necessary for my next crafting project....

Or at least, I could if I weren't on strict bedrest for a serious back injury.

About a month ago, I slipped on the ice at a friend's party and wrenched my back. Being all smart and medically proficient and knowledgeable, I decided that the best way to deal with this was to ignore it and pretend it didn't happen. Over time, it started to feel better - until I decided to go back to my yoga class late last week, and apparently twisted something into a very, very, very bad place. Since then, standing has been difficult, sitting for more than ten minutes impossible, and almost everything has been excruciatingly painful.

Yesterday, the clinic I was working at took one look at the way I was moving and, as soon as there was an opening, marched me over to the chiropractor who works in the same office complex. She took some X-rays (which haven't been developed yet), poked me here and there until I could at least lie down with some vague comfort, and recommended that I spend as much time as humanly possible lying on my side pumped full of muscle relaxants.

So instead of being productive, I get to spend today lying down. At least I'll be too gorped from the meds to be bored..... I hope.

At least the game is more or less ready. With any luck, I'll be able to actually stand up through the whole thing.

*hugs* that sounds like no fun at all. Good luck on feeling better soon. If you don't feel better at H, you should try my amazing muscle relaxant magic cream.

Are you two going to be in Baltimore for this again this year? If so we would love to maybe get together for dinner and talk.

Hope you get to feeling better really soon. I know only too well just how horrible back injuries can be. Just a suggestion (worth what you pay for it) often alternating hot and cold packs can work wonders. It can't hurt and might give you some relief.

Gentle hugs, a pot of tea, and a plate of warm muffins.

I hope you don't need to spend the game sprawled on the Sofa of Suffering!

Sympathies, and hope you feel better. But congrats on the state of the game: not many new games manage to that well-prepared this far in advance...

I highly approve of the clinic you were working at yesterday!

I'm sorry to hear about the state of your back, though. One of my goals for the next couple of days is not doing anything to overtax my neck, shoulders or feet. Ha.

I hope the day of bedrest helps!
