I am a featherweight when it comes to medication. I know this. A single dose of codeine will nock me unconscious in minutes flat. Heck, chamomile tea puts me to sleep.

I took one single dose of muscle relaxant seven hours ago. It is by sheer force of will that i am not, technically, unconscious, and that is just because I refuse to screw up my sleep schedule that badly. However, I am by no definution awake. I stopped watching daytime tv about three hours ago because i couldn't follow the plot. I honestly have no idea what I have done since then.

My brain feels like it is madde of very viscous fluid, and cannot keep up with my body. which is very odd, because my body is, as far as I can tell, both numb and swimming through jello.

on the ohter hand, at least I've just killed a half hour typing this. Please god, let it wear off soon.

People take this stuff on purpose, when they don't have to? Humans are so weird......

I feel the same way when I have to take opiates. My muscle relaxant pill is really bad if I take it during the day... but the cream they prescribed me doesn't go through the same pathways. Maybe you can get them to prescribe you something similar?

You mean people CAN follow the plot of daytime television? There's a plot? Holy crap!

I have a friend who falls asleep for two days if she takes a muscle relaxant. I can still move, but very, very slowly. When my back went out a few years ago it was a very good thing that it wasn't during the school year. I don't want to think of me trying to teach on muscle relaxants. My colleagues were laughing at how slow I was moving when I did go in (except for said friend who sleeps for two days who marveled that I was out of bed.) I don't know if it was that medication or the next one the doc put me on, or just the fact that doing anything but lying flat was painful, but I lost about 15 pounds in a couple of weeks.

Maybe we can smoosh the way I hadle drugs and the way you handle drugs together and come out with two normal people. I drove and went to class on muscle relxants and felt nothing, including, unfortunately, a relaxtion of my injured muscles. Opiates make me slightly sleep and do not hit my pain at all. One of the reasons I don't try mind altering substances is because it takes too large an amount/too much time to do anything at all to me.

My husband is basically immune to medication. It's a real problem when he's in pain. I have a friend with the same issue, you should all start a support group or something...

Yeah, I've never been able to understand that about people who drink, either. Why would you want to dull your awareness like that?
