This Is Weird

After ten years of having been stalled out at one particular length, my hair has started growing again.
Over the past few months, a handful of people have commented on how long my hair has gotten. I kind of ignored them, figuring that they were either flattering me, or just not very perceptive - it's been the same length for almost my entire adult life. But when my own husband mentioned that it was longer than usual, I figured there was a pretty good chance he was right.
So I actually stopped to look, and pay attention, instead of just the automatic mirror-glance I do every morning to make sure that I'm presentable for work. And hey, what do you know? Apparently, sometime in the past... I dunno how long, it's gone from middle-of-my-back to almost-backside-length.
I have no idea why this has suddenly happened - I haven't stopped dyeing it, or changed anything about how I take care of it. And it's a little disconcerting. I've wanted it longer for as long as I can remember, but I had accepted the fact that I had reached my maximum length. Now that that's been proven untrue, I keep flip-flopping between impatient attempts to make it grow faster and worrying that anything I do will suddenly stop this unexpected gift.
I also have no idea why I'm writing about such a mundane little thing, other than the fact that, between that and just having my teeth cleaned, I'm feeling just a bit awkward in my own body - my teeth feel funny, my hair isn't quite where I expect it to be, and I can't help but feel that I'm going to look down and find that something else has changed - one of my feet has secretly been reattached backwards while I wasn't looking, or that my ears have suddenly grown points.....
