Yesterday someone rear-ended me at a traffic light on my way to work. Left a couple dings in my bumper. I thought that was a big deal.

Ha.

So today, on my way home from work, I decided to stop by Michael's to pick up a piece of stitchery that they had framed for me. And some goddamned flake went tearing through the parking lot at ludicrous speed and PUNCHED A FUCKING HOLE IN THE SIDE OF MY CAR. Smashed right through the passenger door. My car is a twisted, helpless wreck.

At least the cops were nice this time.

My head is killing me. My hands won't stop shaking. And I can't bear the thought of driving to work tomorrow. What's going to happen this time? A train jumping the tracks and running me over?

I really, really didn't need this.

My poor car....

Edited to add: I was in the car. Driving on the road that goes through the parking lot. This was an action-collision, not an oops-hit-a-parked-car.

And I have a ten-hour shift tomorrow that I can't get out of. 40 miles away.

Grump.

One of my favorite games to play in RPGs is to give someone a "luck sink" ability. They gather up good luck in "sinks" that build up, but the converse of this is, someone else (usually them) ends up getting all the huge gobs of bad luck they're avoiding in smaller doses.

So they get -1 on all of their "to hit" rolls for a session, just so they can make that critical hit they need to save themselves at a crucial moment.

So, my figuring is that, tomorrow, a train *was* going to jump the tracks and land on top of your car, but you've burned that bad luck out by having smaller bits of it over the past two days.

Okay, yes, that was silly... real life is not a role playing game, though it does bear strong resemblance to some LARPs.

I'll just say a prayer for your general health, physical and mental. Be gentle with yourself. It's normal to be edgy after *any* car accident, but things will get better as time goes on.

I'd offer you a <GreatBigBearHug(tm)>, but I'm afraid it might hurt right now . . . so take it and set it aside until it won't.

That's so awful. I can see you not wanting to get in a car and drive again for weeks!

Holy freaking crap--I'm so glad you're okay. I know it's hard for you to take time off but hopefully the universe will take a break instead.

Yeow. Not an optimal week, no. Time to go back to bed and declare a do-over.

It usually works for me, anyway. And even when it doesn't, at least I got a nap out of the attempt...

This sucks, but thank god you are not seriously hurt. It does seem like the universe is out to get you, but it is important to look at this as positively as possible -- you've escaped :).

get Arnis to take the time off to drive you to work. You need a little babying right now, and then when your day off comes get yourself looked at (make the appt today).

Holy gazoly!! I'm glad you're OK, but take some time for yourself soon! Even non-painful accidents hurt your confidence...

Great googli moogli, my friend. I really hope you're done with this week's live toad breakfasts, as it were.

*hugs you gently and healingly*

Agreed with all those that say you should go see a doctor. And tell about -both- accidents. I hope everything's alright, but... and yeah, yeah, medical people (of any sort) are often reluctant because they've been hit with too many "not worth it" visits themselves. Still, go.

You deserve the paranoia, too. I know exactly how you feel. My small black car has been backed into THREE times now, by someone who "didn't see it" from their minivan/SUV. I am now paranoid about little white backing-up lights anywhere near me. :-P

What the ass fuck shit? How . . . well, infuriating, terrifying, sanity-eroding, etc.! I'm very sorry to hear about this. By all accounts, it's very very normal to experience something like this—
My head is killing me. My hands won't stop shaking. And I can't bear the thought of driving to work tomorrow. What's going to happen this time? A train jumping the tracks and running me over?

—as I'm sure you already know. Good luck.

Holy crap! We love you very much, and if we can do anything to make things easier for you, let me know.

I have lots of Lush I can give you, and Brodie has many therapeutic snurfles.

YIKES! I hope you manage to get through today in one piece so you can take a break tomorrow. You've had more than your share of terrible luck and deserve a day off.

I'm sorry we won't see you at OVFF.

I'm glad you're OK, but I think that you might want to get a checkup if you can just to make sure.

And I can't bear the thought of driving to work tomorrow. What's going to happen this time? A train jumping the tracks and running me over?

My thought (and I sort of asked Legba as well, in my head) is "no". If you feel so inclined, leave 3 pennies at the crossroads.

May you be under the compassing of the Lord of the Roads:
Safety before you, safety behind you,
Safety above you, safety below you,
Safety on your left, safety on your right,
Go in safety, return in safety.
Aye Legba! Ayibobo!

I can think of absolutely nothing I can say or do, but damn it, I wish there was something. All I can do is hope that the universe is through dumping on you for a while.

And I do; I really, really do.

At least you're all right.

I read somewhere that the last, most painful duty of a vehicle is to save its driver and passengers, at any cost. It sounds like your car knows that duty, and loves you enough to do that without question.

Oh good heavens! I'm so glad you're okay. I understand the being shaky to drive -- been there. I mourn your car -- and hope you get good money from insurance, and that you love its replacement. (I'm assuming that your insurance will not want to fix it.)

After my car was totaled earlier this year, I spent a few days in a rental. Because it was due to an accident, they (enterprise) cut me a deal on the rate.

Sympathy.
