I like my hair. At least, I'm moderately fond of it. It's not the longest in the world, or the thickest or the prettiest, but it's not bad, either. Down to the small of my back, and I worked for years to get it that long. I love being able to fiddle with it, braid it, try all sorts of interesting hairstyles. Not to mention that I just look like an utter dork with short hair. Then again, the last time I cut it short was 8th grade, and I think everyone looks rather ludicrous at that age.

I never really have any desire to cut my hair. Except, of course, in the roiling depths of summertime...

It's obscenely hot here, and my hair has transformed from joy to nuisance over the past two days. It's heavy, it traps heat against my neck and back, not to mention trapping paint and bits of wallpaper. No matter what I do, it winds up sliding half-out into a tangled mess. It takes forever to dry.

And I find myself thinking that maybe a pixie-cut wouldn't be that bad.... True, it would take five or six years to grow back out, and I'd probably stop dyeing, and all evidence points to the thought that I'd look like a ninny in the meantime, but.... comfort. Body mod. Two of my favorite concepts.

If I'd had sense I'd've lent you a headscarf (I have way too many, thanks to my mom). It's amazing what tying one's hair up in a cloth can do to keep it out of the way.

The thought is appreciated. :) I've been making do with one of my boyfriend's bandanas, which I think looks hopelessly white-trash, and he thinks is incredibly cute.
