Things have been pretty rocky lately. I've been doing my best to hide this, or at least deny it, probably without much success, but it's true. Work is slow for me and nonexistent for my husband, crises have been coming to heads all over the place, and I've been putting every bit of energy I've got into keeping alive, awake, and functional.

But... that said, it's also important to note that the world is not, in fact, ending. Not just that; there are good things happening, too.

I love my husband, and he loves me, and we're not at the end of our financial rope yet. We have a buffer; we can make this work.

Work is picking up for me. July and August are almost full, I just added another date in June today, and I should be adding more before the end of next week. And I met with another new clinic yesterday, which will hopefully lead to more work in the late summer/early fall.

A slow month or two isn't the worst thing in the world, either. It'll give me time to get back to translating, which I've missed, and to take rehearsing for Babydolls shows more gradually (next week's performance with them has been canceled due to an extreme case of uncooperation on the part of my dance partner, which involved me desperately trying not to bleed on a dress made entirely of ivory-colored sequins). And with my better half out of work too, heck, maybe we can look into cheap/free day trips.

My yard is rapidly turning into a tribute to friends and people I'm happy to have in my life. Lilies of the Valley from one friend, blueberry bushes from another, and soon I'll hopefully add irises and lilacs from two other homes. It brightens my day beyond belief to look outside and see these tangible reminders of friendship and support.

This weekend, with any luck, I'll be going hanggliding, which should be phenomenally, delightfully fun. And even if it doesn't work out, I'll still be with friends, exploring a corner of the world that I've never had the chance to explore before.

My cat is on my lap right now, purring. The sun is shining outside, I have a crafting project that I'm making for a friend to work on tonight, and homemade pizza for dinner. Things are kind of bad, true, but they're not dire, and that doesn't preclude things being kind of good, too.

*hugs you tightly* I'm sorry things have been rough. I hope everything improves for you soon, and I'm glad you've got some fun stuff to do. Also really glad that we got to see you while we were out in Boston. I really hope we can get together the next time we're out -- or if you ever decide to visit the West Coast, look me up. (: We can maybe put you up at our place. (:

Oh~! Wanted to tell you that Crow Moon is *awesome* on me, which is so neat, because usually woodsy things turn out musty. I'm really happy with it. Thanks much! *hugshugs*

My sympathies (and empathy)... but I'm glad you're getting a chance to focus on some things you enjoy.

Hanging out and wasting time sounds like fun. :) I'm not sure what your work schedule is like, but if you wind up with a free afternoon or evening, let me know....
