So, we're nearly at year-end. And while I haven't quite achieved my goal of cooking one recipe from every book that I own, I've made it far enough that I plan to continue. My cooking goals for this year were interrupted by a couple of health issues that left me not eating much for a month at a time, otherwise I think I would have finished, so this doesn't feel like quite so much of a failure.

As it is, I've got a dozen or so books that I've used but haven't had a chance to write up yet - life has been hectic enough with travel and last-minute work that writing has fallen a bit by the wayside - and probably another couple dozen that still need to be used. With any luck, I'll get them finished up within the first few months of the new year.

Meanwhile, thank you all for reading along - half the fun of this project has been getting to write about the results, and share the stories....

I've really been enjoying these cookbook posts, and I've been thinking about doing a similar project (though I have nothing like as many cookbooks) to see what I wind up using again.

I've really enjoyed reading these posts too, and I also have given thought to taking on a similar project. I long ago called a moratorium on acquiring new cookbooks and recipes in general (with a few exceptions), since I have tons of them and haven't used many. I'm sure I have a few that could have a favourite recipe scanned and saved with the book then happily sent out the door....

I've enjoyed reading those posts as well. And I'd like to mention that it's a very positive sign that you recognize "circumstances beyond your control" as NOT being equivalent to a personal failure.

Seconded! Completely.

I'm always fascinated by what other people cook. Sometimes I try out new things because of it, sometimes I wonder why. I'm also fascinated by vintage cookbooks and some of the things they came up with and you had one or two of those that were very interesting.

Thank you for taking on this project! I loved reading about the results, as well as hearing about all the cookbooks you have.

And -- you've set an example for me. I'm setting the same goal -- cooking at least one recipe from each cookbook I own -- for myself for 2010. :)
