Following Along

I don't usually hop onto the meme bandwagons, but this one struck me - it ties into a lot of the work I've been trying to do on the inside of my head lately, as well as a lot of what I've seen a lot of people around me needing. Plus, it just seems like fun, and, well... nice. So....

I know that 2009 was pretty horrid for a lot of people, and to be honest, 2010 has been no great shakes so far. One way we might make the rest of 2010 a bit better is to spread some love around. So if you care to reply to this post I will give you a response of something I like about you.

There are a whole hell of a lot of things I admire about you, most of all the way you can manage to turn almost any situation I can imagine into an opportunity.

What I appreciate the most, though, especially right now, is your honesty when you give your friendship. I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that I can trust you and anything that you say to me - and that you care enough to say what I need to hear, whether or not it may be what I want to hear. That means more to me than I think I can ever clearly express.

Even when they may be scary to try, or people tell you you can't, you don't let that get in your way of taking on things that you want to do. You are my sister, and I will always love you just for that - from the first time I held you, to the time you tried to run away, to helping my dye my hair navy blue at midnight over Christmas break, to snarking about the bad science on Bones. But that's probably not what you meant.

You are such a talented artist. The pictures you draw are incredible, and your dedication to growing your talent and learning and improving is impressive - I've watched you get even better as you try new things, find out what works and what doesn't, and incorporate that into new drawings. Aside from your many creative talents, you're one of the most supportive people I know. What I love most about you is how easy you are to talk to. Even when I had just met you, even just seeing you once or twice a year, you're so comfortable to slip into conversation with. You listen, and you pay attention, and you laugh, and you give back, and it feels like curling up next to a best friend and picking up a conversation that just left off a few minutes ago.
