Okay. Playing along because I've enjoyed coming up with questions for other folks, and imagining what my own answers would be, and because all the cool kids are doing it....

Fill in the blank.

"Hey LadySprite, what is your favorite____?"

And I will answer. Possibly creatively, and within the limits of what I feel like sharing with the world at large, but I will answer.

Ooh, tough one - mostly because I don't know if my first choice technically counts as a myth.

The first thing that pops into my head is Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. I love the story and the complexity and the layering and imagery and the beauty of the language. But technically, I think that's a legend, and not a myth.

So if that doesn't count... I'm going to have to say Echo and Narcissus, only because it's the first one I ever learned. When I was little and found out that the flower for December babies was the narcissus, I had no idea what it was, and set out to learn all about it, and so I've felt faintly possessive and devoted to the story ever since.

Have you ever read "Silverlock", by John Myers Myers? The Green Knight appears in that, along with ... a few other characters.

I have, many years ago - I played in a LARP set in the world of the book, and managed to hunt down a copy. I wound up loving the concept...

I think that, in this case, the delineation between "myth" and "legend" is that anything in Christian lore cannot be called a "myth", or they get all excited. So I think they both count :)
