Reasons Why Today Is Awesome

1) I got to wake up when I felt like it, instead of when the alarm went off. Admittedly, this wasn't horrendously late, but it meant that the sun was up before I was - a rarity at this time of year.
2) Bagel-egg-and-cheese sandwiches for breakfast, because my amazing husband went out to get bagels last night.
3) Working out. For the past month, I have been either away on vacation, recovering from an injured back, recovering from a stomach bug, or recovering from a knee injury. Being able to do a full hour-long workout today felt like heaven, and reminded me how much of a serious mood lift it is for me.
4) My new knee-high boots let me wear short skirts well into the cold weather. Plus, they're still comfortable after strolling around in them all day.
5) "Megamind" is awesome. Awesome beyond even my expectations. And it has the best soundtrack that I've heard in a movie in far, far too long. Also, sitting in a theater full of children so excited by the movie that they're silent except to cheer is a splendid experience.
6) I found Jeans That Fit. Levis 515 petite boot cut jeans are, miraculously, somewhat girl-shaped. Enough that I can wear them, and even kind of like the way they look. Given that shopping for jeans generally takes several weeks and involves at least one round of tears and a serious body-image crisis, lucking into these on a random wander through the mall is nothing short of miraculous.
7) Cinnamon chips are back on the shelves of my grocery store! I adore these things, and several years ago they went from being a seasonal item to just not existing at all. For a little while I had a friend who would bring me some back from the King Arthur Flour outlet, but eventually even that source dried up. But today I found them at Shaws, and stocked up. I anticipate homemade scones in my near future....
8) I get to start planning my Thanksgiving menu tonight. Related to this, we will have a blessedly full house for Thanksgiving, which makes me happy beyond belief and means that I get to make even more delicious food.
9) Package arrived in the mail from ELF today, so that I can continue my cautious, baby-steps dabbling in wearing makeup and generally looking like a girl. Plus, getting packages in the mail is just fun in and of itself.
10) Homemade cake for dessert! (Gold cake with chocolate buttercream icing, the product of a recent stressy episode and a round of therapeutic baking)
What's awesome by you?

Date: 2010-11-07 12:44 am (UTC)That goes well beyond "awesome", into "miraculous". Ever since the [expletives] medication-caused weight gain, finding jeans is almost impossible. Though I *did* find one pair at a thrift store, for $10, that were honest-to-ghods perfect except for length 'cause they were too long for my 5'9", all my height is in my legs, size. That never ever happens. :)
8) I get to start planning my Thanksgiving menu tonight.
Not sure whether Liz will come over either before or after; I'll probably be with the same friends with their extended family that I'm usually with. But I still have to roast my own turkey, 'cause how else will I have enough turkey stock to haul out the pressure canner for? The food bank here is amazingly generous at Thanksgiving; the fixings they give for a two person dinner... well, 16# turkey to start with. For a larger family, I've seen people taking out *cartons* of food, plus the turkey.
Locally awesome: While hanging out at the First Friday gallery thing last night, I made a necklace, frosted glass flowers, clear glass beads, and moonstones, wire-wrapped but ordered rather than random. Still need to trim off the tiny extra ends of wire and smooth them. Its name is either "Frostflower" or "Frostflower, sans thorns"...
Oh, and it's rainy and cold and icky out, so in an hour or so I'm making split pea soup and cornbread, enough of the first to freeze. Omnomnomnom.

And while you're at the site, for your professional life, there's these things.

(my parent's dog loves them, but they're a bit fragrant while baking)
