Someone please tell me that SOMEDAY it will stop being dark and cold?

Please?

Because right now it is dark enough, and cold enough, and miserable enough, outside, that I can't stop it from being dark and cold and miserable inside my head as well....

Yes.

You have said many warm and beautiful things, even in the cold, lately. You will grasp that beam of light again. It will warm you and make you remember that you're whole.

It will come back to you. It's there, waiting for you, even when it's hard to see.

*hugs* Thank you - that's really sweet, and it helps to hear....

The days are already getting longer -- not noticeably, yet, but the calendar assures me that it is so, and it should be noticeable in another week or so. Getting warmer is going to take a while longer, especially as you live in the north, but it will happen.

For now, can the warmth of your friends' affection and caring help at all?

*offers a hug*

It will be light in the morning.

The warmth will return soon, fear not.

Not only will it stop someday, but it will get a little less dark each and every day between now and June 21st. (The cold, of course, will ebb and flow for the next few months, but that'll eventually pass, too.)

Also, Thursday: Tango!

Very true, and I'm looking forward to it!

Do you want to meet at Springstep, or at one of our houses beforehand and walk there together?

I can just shoot over to your place beforehand and we can walk to Springstep from there. About what time should I show up?

Hm. Class starts at 7:30. Do you want to meet here at 6:30? I'm feeling better enough right now that I should be able to handle class, no problem.... *fingers crossed*

Oh, believe me, I'm on that bus. Every day of the week this semester, I have a class that runs until at least 5 PM. (On Wednesdays I'm not done until 7:30!) End result: until at least mid-March, I'll never not be driving home in the dark.

I've done it once so far, and it's already old. But! All the way home tonight I kept glancing at the clock and thinking, After Spring Break - which isn't that far away - it'll be light out now. I just need to hang onto that...

Well I would have, but the power is out and it is very dark here. :)

Seriously though this too will pass. Go make some hot chocolate and snuggle with your sweetie, that is a good way to spend the winter nights.

By tiny increments the days are getting longer. Spring *will* get here, and the sun will come back. Many days the sun is here, but it is just colder than we would like it to be.

I am sufficiently far north of you that there is already a difference in the amount of daylight I notice. So there's your absolute proof *g*

One winter I got through it by watching the weather forecast every night and noting the sunrise/sunset times. A minute a day at this time of year, but nonetheless the solid evidence I needed to get me through it.

Have you gotten yourself a full-spectrum lamp yet?

Doctor believes I do not have SAD, so no. We have one lamp with a full-spectrum bulb, but the only effect it had was convincing me that monsters from another dimension were going to crawl out of its creepy blueness....

It is at times like these that friends and acquaintances should remind you of your earlier post, and ask if you have on your silk longjohns and lap blanket, and hope that you are able to enjoy the warmth of your patients.

Tomorrow, our part of the world will put on its warm lap blanket of snow, and that will help to keep the heat of the earth from escaping too quickly. That snow blanket will mean the early spring flowers can come all the sooner, the grass can grow all the greener, and spring will be here soon to brighten your days.

In the mean time, keep warm. :-)

Yes, it does stop being dark and cold.

In the meantime, there is a place where you can find light, warmth, and happiness. It's your house. Do whatever you need to remind yourself that your home is your castle, a place where it doesn't matter how dark and cold and miserable it gets Outside, it can't touch you.

"O sleep in peace you valleys and hills
Be safe be free as the breeze
The north wind of fear like a banshee howled
And she drove you down on your knees to pray
She drove you down on your knees

Lift up your head to the morning light
The fight o'er darkness is won
And feast your eyes on the land you love
Its life returning with the sun behold
Its life returning with the sun

And the morning walks proud, shining out like a flame
No evil could subdue
You open up your arms in friendship and joy
To welcome in the new born day
To welcome in the new

May the spirit so strong in the shadow and storm
Hold fast to what is right
And surely as you breathe the gentle air of peace
This land shall shelter in the light of love
This land shall shelter in the light"

Someday, it will stop being dark and cold! In fact, every day is getting a little bit less dark than the last one!

Light bulbs with a color temperature around 5500 Kelvin, with a high CRI (color rendering index) look like a cold blue that a bunch of people don't like, but out of the corner of your eye, or around a door, it seems like there's a bright sun outside. Which is particularly weird in the middle of the night.

I got some from here: http://www.alzodigital.com/online_store/light_bulbs_compact_fluorescent_hid.htm
The 27 watt bulbs are very bright (like 123 watt incandescent?). And they buzz.

More geeking.
