Good Things

ladyspriteOkay. Given that yesterday was Not The Best Day, and that the weather is crummy and it would be so easy to slip into worrying and stressing and wallowing about the problems and stresses in life, it's time for me to change my perspective and think about all of the good things going on in my world.
-I had an excellent weekend, mostly of downtime with my husband, and we went to see a movie that was better than I had expected it to be.
-My best friend from high school is coming up to visit next week. I've only seen him once since we were 19, but if Facebook has only done one good thing in this world, it's put me back in touch with him. I can't wait for the chance to catch up, and see him again.

umbran and I will be heading down to NYC. It's only an overnight trip, but still - good food, theater (HOW long has it been since we've been to see a show?), a hotel room to ourselves, and Essabagels, if we can figure out how to get there on the subway.
-The daffodils and tulips I planted in our front yard are all starting to come up, and there are buds on our lilac.
-I have a new Ipod winging its way to me overnight, thanks to an amazingly helpful friend.
-Tango continues to be awesome, and taking the class a second time means that my partner and I are finally having a chance to get comfortable with the steps, and work on details, instead of just skimming the surface and having to move on. It's going from fun-to-learn to fun-to-do.
-I have plans to get together with a few of my friends who have been over-busy lately, that I haven't seen near enough of.
-After being out of the loop for way too long, I have a couple of SCA events that I'm looking forward to, that I'm going to be actually helping out at, teaching, cooking, and performing. I missed feeling like an active participant, and it's good to feel useful and involved again.
-I have projects to work on when work gets slow next month - a dress that I cut out two years ago and never sewed; a translating project that's been lying fallow for almost as long.
.....and in the middle of typing this I got a phone call from a friend whose life is in crisis, and just put everything into perspective. Suddenly everything I'm facing seems so small and insignificant. I am so amazingly blessed in my life, my world, my friends, my husband.... I can never forget how lucky I am.
