I have always been a big fan of the idea that, if you can't feel good, at least look good. It's kind of like the 'whistle a happy tune' idea, on a more all-encompassing physical scale - the thought is that, if you look amazing enough on the outside, no one, including you yourself, will be able to believe that you feel sick/miserable/exhausted on the inside, and you'll trick yourself into a better mood.

Admittedly, I'm limited in my endeavors here by the physical setup God or whoever gave me, but the practical upshot is that today I have decided to say a loud and vehement 'Screw you' to my khakis and sensible work sweaters, and am instead dressing up in pants that actually fit, my favorite teal ruched top with the scoop neck that probably would be highly work-inappropriate if I actually had anything to expose, and my gorgeous sparkly

chimera_fancies pendant and gold dolphin earrings. I look like an actual woman, rather than a rectangular box in a lab coat, or a child dressing up in her great-aunt's work clothes.

Now the only question left is whether I bow to wisdom and still wear my battered old sneakers, or bite the bullet and put on the adorable brown suede pumps with white stitching and 2" heels.....

Edited to add: Hell with it - I'm wearing the pumps. It's only a six-hour shift, and otherwise I'll be tripping over the hems of my pants all afternoon. Plus, this way I don't need to change shoes for tango tonight....
