Okay. The next person who hears me harsh on myself about my size has official permission to smack me until I bleed.

Very few things in the world are more frustrating than going out shopping for the first time in months upon months, and finding the most beautiful, perfect ankle-length chocolate-brown suede skirt.... and realizing that the smallest size the juvie department carries is still too big.

This is absurd - I'm not *that* little. Where the hell am I supposed to shop now? Kids 'R' Us?

Gnar.

You teaching? :)

My sewing skills are pretty much limited to bias dresses and T-tunics. Anything beyond that, and I'm out of my depth. (Which also explains my SCA wardrobe, or lack thereof.....)

skirts are easy. get a pattern form a gabric store (liek 3 bucks) and foloow directions. Simplicity is good, as the name implies. btw, bias dresses are wicked hard to make, if you can make one of those, you can make one of almost anything.

If you don't think you can do it, hire someone to do it. There are lots of fannish folks who would happily sew your skirt at the right price -- you pay for the fabric and pattern, then they just charge for labor.
