All righty, then. Friend is out of ICU and into a more medium-term facility. Still a haul and a half to get to visit her, but at least it's an improvement.

Phone has been miraculously repaired, in spite of the insistence of the Radio Shack clerks that such a thing was impossible. All praise to my wonderful husband, and the staff at the Sprint store, who passed up a major upsell and just did a free fix instead.

Meal planning for the week and grocery shopping are done, and plan is modular to deal with potential trips to the hospital and an uncertain number of dinner guests for an uncertain number of days this week. And it turns out that one of my workdays is 11-5 instead of 9-6; even with the hour-plus commute, that's a bonus.

And me? I'm hanging in there. I made it out dancing, thanks to a very generous and thoughtful friend who invited me out, waited patiently for me, and kept me company on the dance floor even when it got crowded to the point of absurdity (in other news, how to stand out in a crowded goth club, when everyone is trying to be even more of a spectacle than the next person? Smile like you're having the time of your life.). I've avoided nightmares for the past few nights, and I even managed a workout and a few minutes in my garden this morning.

I've had to back off on a few plans - I skipped an SCA meeting today in favor of meal planning and grocery shopping and generally preparing for the coming week; I feel guilty about it, but I know it'll make the next several days much more survivable. And odds are I'll have to table my plans to learn to sing, until I'm not doing hospital-visits twice a week. But... I can live with that. And work is busy, but work is always busy. At least I feel, right now, like I've taken a moment to find my balance and get my feet under me. I don't know how long it'll last, but for the moment, at least, I'm there.

Locking the barn door...

You might want to acquire this utility, which allows you to transfer data between your cellphone and your computer, and run it periodically. If your phone actually does go irretrievably belly-up at some point, having a backup of what's on it will save you a lot of stress, effort, and heartache. This is particularly important for phones which don't use a SIM card.

Skipping plans every once in a while is a good thing, especially when it makes the insane sane.

I'm glad things worked/are working/will work out. I like it when you're happy.

Happy, like Enrico Palazzo.

I don't mind being mentioned by lj username :)
It took us far too long to get out dancing.

I'm still curious what exactly was wrong with your phone.

She's got a phone with a slide-out keyboard. The data cable that passes between the front and back of the phone was severed. The guys at Radio Shack didn't know that this cable is actually a pretty standard part, and could be replaced.
