....to prove that not everything is pain and stress -

Kittens are awesome.

I thought I could keep my kittens from stealing my socks by, you know, putting my darn socks away. Apparently that's not enough.

Harry - my little orange kitten - has somehow managed to liberate one of my socks from my dresser, and has carried it all the way downstairs. He is now alternating between trotting self-importantly around the living room and dining room while carrying it in his mouth, and standing on top of the support rungs on my living room chair while smacking it back and forth.

I have no idea why my socks are so incredibly appealing, but it seems they are....

Maybe he is practicing how to deal with sock puppets that appear in nearly every internet forum.

Fafnir routinely digs one of his three favorite pairs of fuzzy socks out of the sock bin and carries it around the house, yowling to it, and then stashes it somewhere.

If we aren't home for a couple of days and the catsitters don't re-stow the socks, he will move on to the rest of the bin, and sometimes to gloves stolen from coat pockets. I think his personal record is eleven pairs of socks and three gloves.

They might be his kittens? I am unclear. It does seem clear, though, that socks are simultaneously some sort of kindred cat-species and also uppity creatures that need to be routinely put in their proper place.

One of the cats I used to live with also loved to steal socks. My theory was that he was working on a sock-based weather machine in the basement.

Yay kittens! (And your Harry sounds a lot like our Harry, if furrier...)

Strange are the ways of kittens :-). William is enamored of my feet and lower leg - it's very hard to distract him when he wants to fight the foot monster. But they leave my socks alone.

I am glad the kittenz are so cute!

I have a random non-kitten question for you -- I have a buddy who is moving out to Seattle for PT SA work, is considering doing relief work but isn't sure how to go about it. I was curious if you have ever written anything on the subject or if you would have time or inclination to answer questions?? My personal email is my LJ usesrname at gmail.

/work

And keep the kitten stories coming! :-) :-)

I haven't written anything, but I'm happy to talk to them - I'll email you as soon as I get a sec, and then we can work out introductions....
