There aren't really too many things I need in my life, right now. If I were to enumerate them all, the list would probably be fairly short, and would include such things as a full-time job for myself and another one for my husband, a second car, and a magic wand to fix all of my friends' problems.
The list would not include, however, being rear-ended by a goon in an SUV while driving to a job interview this morning. Not even vaguely.
On the other hand, the car and I both came out of the incident more or less unscathed, and there's a certain smug sense of thumbing one's nose at the universe when you can survive something like that, still get to the interview ten minutes early, and walk out with a job offer. Coming home to two more requests for interviews in my email doesn't hurt, either. Especially when the resumes were sent out last night.
Sometimes, once in a very blue moon, I am utterly astounded by my own coolness.

Date: 2005-03-03 08:33 pm (UTC)The face-to-face led to an invite: Tomorrow I get to go in and try to prove that I can write a basic functional specification, and then have lunch with the product manager.
Overall, I'm in the system moving forward. We shall see what develops...

Date: 2005-03-03 07:08 pm (UTC)I also hope your car can be repaired quickly. Having had my Saturn smacked in the trunk while I was stopped at a light back in July of '03, I know it can be a bit of a PITA.
Congratulations on the offer. You're good, and I'm glad others are noticing that.

Date: 2005-03-03 07:23 pm (UTC)On the subject of a 2nd car. My downstairs neighbor has a '80s Jeep Cherokee sitting in the driveway. It was his car until he bought a new one. Looks ugly as hell, has one flat (has full sized spare though so that can be swapped on), needs front brakes and a valve cover gaskets. He's been asking $200 for it, but hasn't had any bites, he'd prolly take $100 if you promise to get it out of his life. I could do the brakes and gasket and swap the tire for the cost of parts (another $200 tops), and could otherwise give it a good going over. Let me know if you're intersted and I'll get more info from him and get you a better estimate on the parts."
