There aren't really too many things I need in my life, right now. If I were to enumerate them all, the list would probably be fairly short, and would include such things as a full-time job for myself and another one for my husband, a second car, and a magic wand to fix all of my friends' problems.

The list would not include, however, being rear-ended by a goon in an SUV while driving to a job interview this morning. Not even vaguely.

On the other hand, the car and I both came out of the incident more or less unscathed, and there's a certain smug sense of thumbing one's nose at the universe when you can survive something like that, still get to the interview ten minutes early, and walk out with a job offer. Coming home to two more requests for interviews in my email doesn't hurt, either. Especially when the resumes were sent out last night.

Sometimes, once in a very blue moon, I am utterly astounded by my own coolness.

The phone interview led to a face-to-face interview.

The face-to-face led to an invite: Tomorrow I get to go in and try to prove that I can write a basic functional specification, and then have lunch with the product manager.

Overall, I'm in the system moving forward. We shall see what develops...

Go, you! Here's hoping you get enough good offers that you have the opportunity to pick and choose and find the one that's a perfect fit for you. 'Cause, you know, you deserve it.

Glad you and the car are OK. Gladder that you got to the interview and got an offer. And even gladdeder that the accident is all the SUVs fault so he can kiss your butt about damages. :)

"Sometimes, once in a very blue moon, I am utterly astounded by my own coolness."

Which is further proof of how cool you are. The really cool people are to coolness what fish are to water - living in it, and not really noticing most of the time.

Glad to know all is well with you. Very happy about the job offers, and requests for interviews. Hopes and good thoughts for Arnis to find the perfect (or even almost perfect) job for him.

I've been impressed by your coolness for years.

I also hope your car can be repaired quickly. Having had my Saturn smacked in the trunk while I was stopped at a light back in July of '03, I know it can be a bit of a PITA.

Congratulations on the offer. You're good, and I'm glad others are noticing that.

"Lucky for you on the lack of damage and it being his fault anyway. I'd stop by the saturn dealer and have them check it over just to be sure, better to find out about hidden damage and get it fixed now than have issues later.

On the subject of a 2nd car. My downstairs neighbor has a '80s Jeep Cherokee sitting in the driveway. It was his car until he bought a new one. Looks ugly as hell, has one flat (has full sized spare though so that can be swapped on), needs front brakes and a valve cover gaskets. He's been asking $200 for it, but hasn't had any bites, he'd prolly take $100 if you promise to get it out of his life. I could do the brakes and gasket and swap the tire for the cost of parts (another $200 tops), and could otherwise give it a good going over. Let me know if you're intersted and I'll get more info from him and get you a better estimate on the parts."

Thank you heaps....

Yay for new and interesting places to scare Saru-chan to death! Be sure to let us know once you have a home so we can torment the kitty again!

I would be more astounded with your coolness if [personal profile] qarylla didn't have better taste in friends... 'cepting me, of course.

I got rear-ended by a UPS truck once. Slight difference of opinion with the truck driver; he though I was going to go through a yellow light, and I thought I wasn't. As it turned out, he was right.

Becky coolness factor *very* high! Coolness factor of getting job offer *and* multiple responses to resumes in less than 24 hours also extremely high!! Coolness factor of being rear-ended by goon in SUV non-existent, but cancelled by previous two. Glad you're ok, luv!!! Best of luck to you and Umbran with the whole job thing! And the jeep - jeeps are way cool beasties. *g*

Sorry about the idiot in the SUV, but, delighted that you're getting such a great response! I hope you get several offers, so you can choose the one you like best.
