I look more or less the same right now as I have for the past twelve years or more. In particular, I've been using the same hair color for that entire time. I also have the same hairstyle (long, straight), but I'm not willing to change that.

However, it's been months since I've colored my hair. And in the past few weeks, I've gotten a lot of compliments on the current color, which is a lot lighter and blonde-er than my usual new-penny red. And... while I like the bright, shiny copper, twelve years is a long time to stay the same.

So I'm - cautiously - considering changing my hair. I'm not quite ready to give up on coloring completely; my basic hair color is alarming in its blandness (not blonde, not brown, not red, just... sort of hair-colored). But I might at least be willing to try something less drastic than SUPER RED.

I've bought some henna; maybe I'll even get brave enough to try it.

I know; drastic change. But I am rather set in my ways, and for me this is a big step.

Of course, this doesn't even touch on the other big change that has been nagging at the corners of my mind - after being certain beyond certain that the pawprints were the only tattoo I'd ever want, I have fallen in love with another image and am desperately fighting the urge to get it inked onto my thigh. I need to put it on my mirror and look at it every morning for a year before I'm willing to make that leap, though. (Who was it who warned me that ink was addictive?)

Henna is just a less aggressive red, and the coloring agent itself is natural, not a chemical dye.

I wound up with black hair once, accidentally (was going for navy blue) - trust me, I'll never do that again.
