Because every once in a while it's kind of fun to do one of these silly things, and this one looked kind of entertaining, and because while I'm doing okay at the moment I'm too tired to be witty on my own....

Hmm. I like my determination - once I decide to do something, I *WILL* do it. I like my sense of adventure; I wind up trying and doing a lot of fascinating stuff that not everyone gets to. I like... hm, I don't know how else to say this, but my ability to be present in the world, and find joy in it - for all that I have a tendency towards anxiety and self-doubt, I'm generally a pretty happy person.

I like the fact that children seem to innately trust me, and that I'm an empath, and that I can make things for people I love.

"We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams; -
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world forever, it seems.'
Arthur O'Shaughnessy, "Ode"

... thank you. I honestly had no idea that the full quote even existed, and the first two lines are among *my* favorite quotes to live by. (From Willy Wonka -- one of the few custom buttons I've ever commissioned.)

That's not the full quote; that's the first verse. :) The whole thing is nine verses, and just keeps getting more gorgeous....

Elegant and powerful poetry, and spells out the idea much more deeply than I had realized -- this definitely goes onto my favorites list, and is going to occasion much reflection. Thanks much...

I miss Tristan. :(

I still find it hard to understand sometimes that he's not just in the other room, that I don't need to hide my glasses so he won't chew on the earpiece, that he's not going to ever be there again....

Ooh, tougher than I thought....

1) Listen to me, and talk to me. This sounds simple, but it's rarer than I had originally thought. Paying attention, instead of just talking at someone, is a rare trait.

2) Be passionate about something, and share that excitement and joy with me. Enthusiasm is something I value more than almost anything else.

3) Be creative. Musician, storyteller, artist - and make something for me with those skills. It doesn't need to be huge or fancy, but writing a story for me, or drawing a picture, or playing a song, that I know is mine, will utterly melt me.

4) Protect me and be kind to me. I never knew quite what it felt like to be safe, so someone who can give me that stands out like a ray of sunshine.

5) Be an incredible kisser. Don't know if I need to go into more detail on this.

4)

What if God is real? Or gods, or whatever? For all my spirituality, at my heart of hearts I'm more agnostic than anything else - I choose to believe, but I know it's a choice, and there is always a teeny part of me that wonders, what if I die and it turns out that God really *is* an old guy with a white beard who wanted me to call him one particular name.

Or, what if he's Mickey Mouse? Or nothing? Or just a big face? Or a roulette wheel? Or a telepathic conglomeration of everyone who died before? Or something I can't even imagine?

Alas, I'll warn you, all of these will likely have absolutely no meaning to anyone who wasn't there at the time, but have become in-jokes and catchphrases....

1) "There's no Y in Mesmer!"
2) "The Phantom of the Opera is there... inside my pants!"
3) "I wanna go to Smooookey Boooones!"
4) "Darling, you know I don't drink beer."
5) "Fleming...."

(explanations available for any and all, though I can't guarantee they'll make sense.)
