I'm used to needing to take some time to recover after a convention. I'm used to having to deal with exhaustion, emotional fatigue, the weirdness of having finished a huge project, and even the occasional cold. This is the first time, though, that I've ever had to deal with stomach flu in this situation.

Honestly, I think this is the first time I've had to deal with stomach flu at all - when I get sick, I get bronchitis. And I have to say, given the choice? I'll take bronchitis again, anytime, over this. I think I'd take getting hit by a bus over this. Fever of 102, not being able to roll from my back to my side without spending half an hour dry-heaving, getting so violently sick that I pass out and give myself a black eye bouncing off the floor? Not the best way I've ever spent my time.

I'm doing a little better today - I can focus my eyes enough to read for a little while, and I can sit up for a few minutes. I've started cautiously contemplating ginger ale. And I'm trying to decide whether going to work tomorrow would be a heroic triumph or a stupid cowboy maneuver. But... I never want to do this again.

In other, related, news, [livejournal.com profile] umbran is a hero and a trooper, and I don't know how I would have survived without him.....

Stay home... on the off chance you could possibly still pass this along. Would you want to do that to another person, particularly one you like?

Hope you feel better soon.

In case no one else has passed on the news, apparently this year's con crud is Norovirus. :P

On the bright side, it's likely to be over soon! On the dark side, hella long contagion :(

There is such a thing as a heroic, stupid cowboy triumph. I think that might be it, particularly if it actually is noro. Remain upon the couch. :)

I am glad you are feeling better!

It sounds like this hit you far harder than it hit me! Ouch!

I think stupid cowboy maneuver.

Yay umbran!

It sounds a lot like what hit me in Mexico. Although I was only actively sick for about 8-12 hours, I was incredibly weak the next day. I couldn't dress myself without pausing to rest. I could barely stand for more than 5 minutes. Thank goodness [livejournal.com profile] new_man was with me the whole time.

Stay home and rest.

According to the CDC you can still be contagious from a minimum of 3 days to as long as 2 weeks after you fall ill with a norovirus. Don't be a cowboy!

Wow, I hadn't realized it stayed contagious for so long. Get better, Becky!

That period is why norovirus becomes especially dangerous when it's introduced into an environment like a hospital, nursing home/rehab, assisted living facility, etc. Apparently 4 places in the area have already been shut down because of it.

*hugs* that sounds terrible. I hope you start getting stronger quickly. Don't go to work until you are sure you are well.

Ack! Don't breathe on the computer screen! I don't want to catch it!

(I hope you get better soon, sweetie.)

Ouch. Well... you can blame all of the emotional fatigue and weirdness on the flu if you like. (Or not if you don't. But I sometimes like to say, e.g., "Oh, I wasn't just exhausted by social activity, I was actually *sick*, and that's why I was exhausted!")

I hope you're feeling much better now....
