I'm used to needing to take some time to recover after a convention. I'm used to having to deal with exhaustion, emotional fatigue, the weirdness of having finished a huge project, and even the occasional cold. This is the first time, though, that I've ever had to deal with stomach flu in this situation.

Honestly, I think this is the first time I've had to deal with stomach flu at all - when I get sick, I get bronchitis. And I have to say, given the choice? I'll take bronchitis again, anytime, over this. I think I'd take getting hit by a bus over this. Fever of 102, not being able to roll from my back to my side without spending half an hour dry-heaving, getting so violently sick that I pass out and give myself a black eye bouncing off the floor? Not the best way I've ever spent my time.

I'm doing a little better today - I can focus my eyes enough to read for a little while, and I can sit up for a few minutes. I've started cautiously contemplating ginger ale. And I'm trying to decide whether going to work tomorrow would be a heroic triumph or a stupid cowboy maneuver. But... I never want to do this again.

In other, related, news, [livejournal.com profile] umbran is a hero and a trooper, and I don't know how I would have survived without him.....

Wow, I hadn't realized it stayed contagious for so long. Get better, Becky!

That period is why norovirus becomes especially dangerous when it's introduced into an environment like a hospital, nursing home/rehab, assisted living facility, etc. Apparently 4 places in the area have already been shut down because of it.
