More details to follow, but suffice it to say that after a nigh-disastrous walkthrough, a series of miscommunications, a migraine, and an hour and a half of signing and initialing papers at a surprisingly smooth closing, my dear husband and I are now homeowners.
It's not perfect. But, after a night's sleep and some time to think, the imperfections don't seem quite so big anymore. And it's ours.
Off to work, now. The world keeps moving outside.
I could really use a nap, though. Part of me wants everything to pause for a bit while I process this....

Part of that is mitigating the imperfections where possible, and focussing on/amking the best of the strengths and advantages the house has for you.

You'd be amazed at how scary the simple question "Where did that check go?" is when it is referring to the cashier's check for a 20% downpayment plus closing costs on your first home. The biggest check I have ever written, and the person handling the closing could not find it immediately!!!! Fortunately, it was just under some other papers, and found quite quickly. It just *seemed* like forever to me...
